Ok, so let’s start with honesty – I am a complete blogger virgin. I have never written a blog, read a blog or even been near a blog. Didn’t realise they were really a thing. Turns out they are fairly popular, and due to planning a big trip, my partner said it was a good idea to start one – both for memory sake and on the off-chance people would be interested in what we have to say!
So – introduction… I am Kelly, just turned 28 years old. I am a size 12 with absolutely no thigh gap! I am one of the most organised people you will ever meet – I LOVE lists, even pointless repetitive ones. I also love my comfort zone and have become a lot less social year by year. I also become very anxious at irrational things and have no idea how to take a decent Instagram photo … so travelling sounds perfect for me doesn’t it?!
James and I have been talking about wanting to see so many places together before we think about the settling down thing (house, kids etc) and now is the ideal time for us. Now, believe it or not, I was the one nagging him to commit to the trip (didn’t take much to convince him) and a few months ago we said we would go for it. So, over the next couple of months we will be packing up our lives and giving everything up to see beautiful new countries and cultures and having the experience of a lifetime.
All my friends, colleagues and family know we are going away for around 8 months and keep telling me “how exciting” it is, “what an amazing time” we will have and how they are “so jealous”. That’s all well and good, and of course I am super excited. Yet, the nervous, anxious, non-spontaneous person that I am is SHIT SCARED!! Like, I am nervous at the best of times but in new unknown territory with no specific plan? It’s practically my worst night mare!
So, this will be my side of the blog -the ramblings of the anxious, organised, home comforts girl who has never even stayed in a hostel!
